I'm the 'not sick one' for once...

One thing that a chronically ill person doesn't often have the opportunity to do is care for their own loved ones when they are ill...

...usually it's the other way around...

Even though Ken has been sick for the last 4 days, I've loved being able to reciprocate all of the "caring for" he has done for me over the last million years.

(...while keeping my antibacterial soap and hand sanitizer very close at hand!)

No matter how small his need (a bottle of water? Some aspirin? What about some toast?) I've loved every minute of taking care of him.

I love the (very rare) opportunity to give back to him in the way he has given to me thousands of times before. I love to snuggle him and rub his back and lay around in jammies, together. I've drawn hot baths with aromatic salts, administered medicine and changed the sheets on the bed to keep them fresh. I've fetched extra blankets and taken temperatures...

In essence,

I've been given the chance to return all of his past favors - and while I wish he hadn't gotten sick in the first place - I'm the lucky one to be able to comfort him.

I get to be the "not sick one" for once... and that feels great!
